This latest installment of our case conference series highlights the case of a patient where resistance takes the form of “polite compliance”; how that affects the treatment, and the difficult countertransference feelings it stirs up in the therapist. This case will be presented by PCOP psychotherapy student Yingying Wang, to discussant Elio Frattaroli, MD, psychoanalyst and PCOP faculty member.

Discussion will focus on clinical interventions and case formulation, demonstrating the relevance of analytic principles to work with a variety of patients, as well as concrete examples of “what to say, when” in psychotherapy that attendees can apply to their own clinical work. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the material together in "break out" chat groups, and a moderator will guide the following question and answer period where you can pose questions to Yingying and Elio regarding the case.
